What is an ALA Award?
The ALSC (Association for Library Service to Children) is a division of ALA (American Library Association) that administers the yearly notable book lists for children as well as the ALA book and media awards. Members of the ALSC, which consists primarily of librarians, form committees to accept nominations each year for the different award categories and then vote for the winning books. They usually announce the winners and honorary winners in January of each year.
